LC Email vs external cold email
LC Email is HighLevel's built-in sending service. It's cheap and convenient for email to people who asked to hear from you. Sending cold outreach through the same setup puts the deliverability of every sub-account's newsletters, reminders and receipts at risk.
LC Email in numbers
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Sending | $0.675 per 1,000 emails, flat across plans, billed at agency level |
| What counts | All incoming and outgoing emails, including To, CC and BCC; forwarding billed at the sending rate |
| Verification (optional) | $2.5 per 1,000 |
| New account ramp-up, days 1–7 | 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 7,500, then 10,000 per day |
| Daily limit from day 8, shared domain | 25,000 |
| Dedicated sending domain | Required to go beyond the shared limit; a sub-account without its own dedicated domain is treated as shared |

What HighLevel says about cold email
The LC Email article's FAQ says cold email is supported and points to a separate cold email article for the details, and it tells agencies to confirm a sub-account isn't a spam account before raising its limits. Read that article and HighLevel's terms before you send any cold campaign, because the rules can change and breaking them can suspend sending for the account.
Why we still separate them
This is our recommendation, not a HighLevel rule:
- Reputation is shared by domain. Cold email gets more spam complaints and bounces than email to opted-in contacts. If both go out on the same domain, the domain's reputation drops for your appointment reminders too.
- Different tools for different jobs. Cold outreach tools are built for small daily volumes spread across several inboxes, warm-up and reply detection. LC Email is built for marketing and transactional email to your CRM.
- The law still applies. In the US, CAN-SPAM requires accurate sender information, a physical address and a working opt-out in commercial email, cold or not. Other countries (for example under GDPR in the EU or CASL in Canada) are stricter about consent.
A setup that keeps things clean
- Main domain (yourbrand.com): your website and people's personal inboxes. No bulk sending.
- Dedicated LC Email sending subdomain (for example
mail.yourbrand.com) for newsletters, nurture and reminders to opted-in contacts, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up. - Separate lookalike domains, in a separate cold email tool, for outreach. Low volume per inbox, real personalisation, honest opt-out.
- When a cold prospect replies with interest, add them to HighLevel and move them into your normal pipeline. Now they're a contact who engaged.
Cost check
At $0.675 per 1,000, 50,000 emails a month is about $34 in LC Email fees. That's rarely the problem; deliverability is. Model your total usage with the usage calculator.
